F1 Concession 2017/2018 application 2 Weeks, 6 Days ago Karma: 36
Hi Guys,

So I am stressing about my two exam (CMP3701 and MRL302) however my one exam (MRL3701) was a supplementary exam. So I am not sure if this means that I will not qualify for a FI exam on that module.

Does anyone one have friends that done a FI after they failed the supplementary exam..

PS for those stressing like me, this is from the UNISA's rules.

Undergraduate students in their final year of study who have a maximum of two modules outstanding to complete the qualification may qualify for assistance in terms of the procedure to assist students who have one or two modules outstanding to complete a qualification at
Unisa.

Modules offered for non-degree purposes in order to complete a qualification at another university are not considered for FI Concession purposes. The student must have written and failed the modules in the last examination and the examinations must have been
the first examination opportunity
. Note that not all modules are considered for FI Concession purposes. Since the university grants the FI Concession opportunity based on the requirements met by the student, you are not able to apply to the university to be considered
for such an assessment opportunity.

No student will be granted a third opportunity in respect of the FI Concession. The university reserves the right to award or decline the special assessment opportunity based on the student’s formative and last summative assessment.Postgraduate students (who qualify) must owe 24 credits or less in order to be considered for the above assistance. This opportunity is granted at the sole discretion of the university. Students cannot apply for this opportunity.

They do not give you a Fi for supplementary. I failed one module last semester (which was a supplementary) they told me I do not qualify coz a supp is a second opportunity. I wrote an email to the Dean, deputy , registrar and this is the response I got.

Good day

Unfortunately the below student does not qualify for FI concession. The student wrote the module: LPL4805 as a supplementary exam during the May/June 2017. No third opportunity is allowed with UNISA policy. See point 17.1 on myrules.

The student should continue with the new registration.

Kind regards
Mike

I have a dream, where smarties and gummy bears will birth rascals. Where there is not prejudice for blue rascals over the rest, but each gets eaten evenly.

Good day all

I wrote my last 4 modules (all tax subjects) and I was curious about the F1 concessions also.

So I gather that there is no application process that needs to be followed, you are either selected or not. Am I right in saying that?

Also, is the F1 another exam that will be written, and if so, when will such exams be written?

Any cost involved for this?

Hi,

So no application needed. The exam department /lecture will email you.
It will take place in Jan/Feb (I think); and
There is a cost involved not sure how much though.

F1 exam papers are UNISA proprietary marked and thus sharing them with anyone can lead to disciplinary measures being instituted.

Hi Johan Mel
F1 Exams vary with lecturers >> It can be a Potfolio, a multiple Choice 2hr on line exam, a weekend assignmen, a surpervised potfolio etc,
No Cost at all. You are encouraged to register for the module anyhow,, and will be refunded if you pass the F1
